This is a memory of the renown and rustic Sal's Pizza in Waltham, Massachusetts. It became a neighborhood tradition in many families to get pizza and seafood from Sal's on Friday nights. The business grew and Sal expanded bringing many more people from other areas to Waltham to eat at his Pizza place and then restaurant. A few years back, there was a huge fire destroying the building and the businesses, breaking the hearts of many local people. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the fire but, Sal did not rebuild. So, we lost a wonderful convenient family owned and operated restaurant with such delicious Italian food. Today, Sal is 89 year young and retired. Sadly, Sal's Place is gone and we will always remember it so fondly. I painted this memory painting using one of the photos in the newspaper of the firemen putting out the fire, as a reference. Basically, the painting is from my imagination and memories of how Sal's was a packed house, especially on Friday Nights.
